Outbound for acquirers of service businesses
For buyers looking for local and commercial service businesses to acquire, and a way to reach the people who run them.
The brief
What you would type into Find
You write who you want to reach in plain words. The brief becomes filters like the ones shown here, and you can edit them before anything runs.
An excluded word works on the site's own text. A site that uses the word is left out of the list.
Brief
Pest control companies in North Carolina. Leave out franchises.

Step by step
What Motion reads and writes for you
The list is built from company websites. After that, contacts, drafts, sending and results work the same way for every list.
- 01
You see the cost before anything runs
The brief becomes filters you can edit. Before the run starts you see a cost estimate and set a spend cap. Finding companies is not billed. A run returns up to 100 companies.
- 02
Company websites are found for the sector and state
Web search is used to find company websites. A search result is kept only as a pointer to a website, and the result itself is not stored. Directories, social profiles and map listings are skipped.
- 03
Each site is read and checked against the brief
Find reads the home page and up to two more pages, such as about, contact or team. The sector has to appear in the site's own words, and the state is checked against the address and the text on the site.
- 04
Each company gets at most one contact
When contact lookups run, Find starts from the first person the site names in its structured data, such as a founder, if there is one. The contact on the row is the person a provider you connected returned. When no provider returns one, it is that person from the site, with a link to the page. If the site names no one, a provider domain search may still return a person. The provider chooses that person, so it may not be the owner.
- 05
Contacts are looked up on your own keys
For each full match, a person and an email are looked up through the contact providers you connected, and the email is checked by your verifier. Your providers bill you. Lookups stop when the spend cap is reached.
- 06
Drafts cite their facts
You save the matches as a list and write a campaign to it. A personalized line written for you has to point at a fact that was read from the company. A check runs before sending: a draft passes, is held for your review, or is blocked. Text you write yourself in a template is not checked.
- 07
Email leaves from your sending account
Email leaves from mailboxes in a sending account you connect with your own key. Replies are sorted into positive, negative, out of office and unsubscribe.
- 08
Results are counted in replies and won revenue
A campaign is scored on replies and positive replies. Opens are not part of the score. When you mark a deal won and enter its amount, the revenue is tied to the campaign that started the conversation.
Not built yet
What it does not do yet
For this kind of list
- No revenue, profit or headcount figures. A size in your brief is not verified.
- No ownership or state filing records, and no signal that an owner wants to sell.
- Find cannot confirm that a company is run by its owner. It reads what the site says.
- One contact per company. Other people a site names are not kept, and no contact is added while contact lookups are off for your account.
For everyone today
- Email is the only channel. Calling and LinkedIn steps are not switched on.
- The research behind a draft reads the company's home page: the title, the description and the main headline.
- Find searches companies in the United States today.
- During early access we switch on sending for each workspace by hand, so a new account can build company lists first.
- Writing back to your CRM does not run yet. Import from a file works.
Sending safety
The checks fail closed
If the suppression list cannot be read, or a mailbox limit cannot be confirmed with your sending account, the send is refused. It is not let through.
Before a campaign can send
- When a campaign is checked for launch, each address needs a verified result. A result more than 30 days old is not accepted at that check. A passed check is reused for up to 24 hours.
- A campaign cannot launch without a sender postal address, and it is refused if the unsubscribe link is not set up.
- Suppressed addresses are removed at enrollment and checked again before the campaign starts. An opt-out in one campaign applies to all of your campaigns.
- By default only recipients in the United States are enrolled. A recipient whose country is unknown is left out.
While it is sending
- By default a mailbox is limited to 10 messages a day at first, rising by 5 every 3 days to 30 a day.
- A campaign is paused when bounces pass 5 percent or complaints pass 0.3 percent of its last 200 sends, once at least 20 have gone out.
- When a spam complaint is reported back, the campaign is paused and the address is suppressed. A safety pause is not lifted until you acknowledge it.
- Campaigns are created with open and click tracking off, as plain text.
Free during early access
There is nothing to buy yet and no card is taken. The costs you do have are with the providers you connect. The pricing page lists each one.
