Legal

Acceptable use

Draft last edited October 9, 2026.

These are the draft rules for using Motion to send outreach, followed by the limits the product enforces whether or not you follow the rules.

01Purpose

Motion is for business-to-business outreach: one business contacting another about something relevant to its work. These rules protect the people who receive email, your sending reputation, and other customers.

02What you agree to

  • Contact people in their business role, about something relevant to that business.
  • Use contact data you have the right to use. Do not import lists you were not allowed to obtain or use.
  • Identify yourself truthfully. Use a real sender name, a real business and a valid postal address. Do not use misleading subject lines.
  • Honor every opt-out. Do not contact a suppressed address again through this product or by moving it elsewhere.
  • Follow the anti-spam, privacy and marketing laws that apply to you and to your recipients.
  • Review drafts before they send. You are responsible for the claims in your messages.

03What is not allowed

  • Messages to consumers about personal matters, or bulk email with no business relevance to the recipient.
  • Phishing, fraud, impersonation, malware, or content that is illegal, harassing or deceptive.
  • Getting around the limits and checks described below, including by splitting sends across accounts.
  • Removing or hiding the unsubscribe link or the postal address in a message.
  • Using the product to collect data from sites that forbid it, or to gather personal data about private individuals.
  • Reselling access to the service, or probing it for security weaknesses without our written agreement.

04What the product enforces today

These are not promises you make. They are defaults and checks in the product. Where one is a check, a campaign that fails it does not send.

  • When a campaign is checked for launch, each address is checked for a verified result. A result more than 30 days old is not accepted at that check, and a campaign with an address that fails it is not eligible to send. A passed check is reused for up to 24 hours, so a result can go past 30 days inside that time.
  • At send time each address is checked again. When a verification provider is configured for that step, it asks the provider. When none is, it checks only that the address is well formed.
  • A campaign needs a sender postal address, and the from address must match a mailbox you connected. The address is added to the footer of every step.
  • A campaign is refused at launch when the unsubscribe link is not set up. The link is added to the footer of every step.
  • Suppressed addresses are removed at enrollment and checked again before the campaign starts. If the suppression check cannot run, nothing sends.
  • By default only recipients in the United States are enrolled. A recipient whose country is unknown, or whose country field and time zone disagree, is left out. A recipient outside the United States is enrolled only if the country is on your workspace list and the list has a recorded basis for contact.
  • By default a mailbox is limited to 10 messages a day at first, rising by 5 every 3 days to 30 a day. Where your sending account supports a per-mailbox limit, the product sets it there before it enrolls anyone, and it refuses the send if the limit cannot be confirmed.
  • A campaign is given one sending window: 9:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, in a single time zone for the whole campaign. The zone is one we configure for the service if we have set one. If not, it is the recipients zone when they all share one, and United States Central time when they do not. If the window cannot be set, your sending account uses its own default window, and the campaign still sends.
  • Campaigns are created with open and click tracking off, as plain text.

05When a campaign is paused automatically

The product pauses a sending campaign when it sees any of these in the events your sending account reports back:

  • A spam complaint is reported for a message in the campaign. One is enough.
  • Bounces pass 5 percent of the last 200 sends, once at least 20 have gone out.
  • Complaints pass 0.3 percent of the last 200 sends, once at least 20 have gone out.
  • More than 10 addresses have bounced within those sends.

A campaign paused for a complaint or for a bounce or complaint rate is not resumed until you acknowledge the pause.

06Where list data comes from

When Motion builds a list, company fields are read from the company's own website and carry the page they came from. Web search is used only to find company websites, and search results are not stored. A map listing or a review site is not read as a company website. Paid contact lookups run on your own provider keys under your agreement with that provider.

07Enforcement

If we believe an account is breaking these rules we may pause its campaigns, limit its sending, or suspend it. We will tell you why unless the law prevents it.

08Reporting abuse

If you received email sent through Motion that you believe breaks these rules, use the unsubscribe link first, then email support@superscraper.dev with the message and its headers.
